Historically Casa Hotel Las Plazas was inhabited by important characters of the republican period of Ecuador like the Vicepresident Manuel Benigno Betancourt. Also, it was the meeting point for Isidro Ayora Cueva, who was Ecuador president in 1923 and 1931.
